I have been taking pictures of New York City holiday window displays for more than 30 years. Rain or snow, I would take my SRL and spend an evening taking pictures. Now, with my Samsung mobile in hand I continue the tradition.

Over the years the displays have changed. Now they are animated and visitors make videos of the windows

Macys, Bergdorf's, Saks, Lord and Taylor and Bloomingdales, they all play the game and I love their originality. Lord and Taylor and Barney's closed last year but this year there were new windows to see. The empty stores of 5th avenue were ornamented with Gingerbread houses and New York city landscapes.

People also line up to see Saks Fifth avenue window display. This year's theme is Disney's "Frozen 2. But one more reason to make the trip is to wait for the light show. In 2004, the department store began showing 50 oversized snowflakes on their facade twinkling along with the holiday song “Carol of the Bells”.

In 2015, Saks revealed its Winter Palace on its facade. It attracts so many visitors that New York City decided to close some streets for pedestrians.

It is now an annual tradition that's part of what makes New York City so special this time of year.

Of course you cannot go to 5th avenue without seeing the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. The tree is ornated with 50,000 multicolored LED lights and capped with a star. The star, made of Swarovski crystals, was created by the renowned architect Daniel Liebskind in 2018.

The holiday decorations attract many visitors. Young and old pack the streets of New York to embrace the spirit of the holidays.

Happy Holidays to all!
